A Launceston teenager who had only had his licence for 19 days has had his Holden Utility clamped and been slapped with a $1500 fine, after he was caught driving at nearly 150 km/h on Bridport Road. 

Police say a female teenager was in the black car as well when it was pulled over at Pipers Brook at about 12:45pm yesterday, clocked 58km/h over the speed limit for a P1 driver.

The 17-year-old male will face court at a later date.

"To see someone so inexperienced choose to drive this way, is disappointing given the significant risk that he not only placed himself under, but his passenger and all other road users,” Senior Constable Tammi Lambert said
