How prisoner mental health is managed is at the heart of a coroner's inquest this week.
Daryl Royston Wayne Cook was found not guilty on the grounds of insanity to murder for stabbing North Hobart shopkeeper Voula Delios to death in 2016.
He told police afterwards he was waging war on heathens.
The diagnosed schizophrenic, who was psychotic, had been released early from Risdon Prison the day before.
Day one of the inquest is featuring the coroner taking a tour of the Wilfred Lopes forensic mental health facility, located near the prison.
The boss of the Tasmanian Prison Service and Risdon Prison chaplains are scheduled to appear at the hearing tomorrow.
