Police hunt tyre slashers

traffic cars

Police are appealing for tip-offs over a tyre-slashing spree south of Hobart over the long weekend.

Tyres were knifed on 22 vehicles between Waratah Street in Kingston and Pearsall Avenue in Blackmans Bay on Saturday night, owners finding the carnage first thing on Sunday morning. The public holiday left them stranded yesterday.

The total damage is estimated to be between $8,000 and $10,000.

Police say it's believed the offenders were on foot at the time of causing the damage.

Anyone with information in relation to the damage incidents, or who saw someone walking around in the area at the time, is asked to contact Kingston Station on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
