Ice discovered during routine screening at Hobart Airport

Investigations continue into a haul of Ice discovered during a routine drug screening at Hobart Airport last week.

A 21 year man faced court today over the seizure of 280 grams crystal methythylamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $280,000.

Joseph Roy Wallner was arrested at Hobart Airport on Friday afternoon.

Tasmania Police say the 21 year old was picked out by a drug detection dog after he arrived on a Virgin Airlines flight.

They allege he had concealed the drug in his underwear.

Mr Wallner is yet to enter a plea to a charge of trafficking in a controlled substance and 2 counts of taking a flight using false identification.

He has been remanded in custody to reappear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on the 26th of July.
