Although this week's snowfalls are over, deep drifts are still giving search and rescue services a busy time.
Two people had to be escorted to safety at Liaweenee early this morning from a car which became snowbound on Highland Lakes Road last night.
A helicopter team also saved a man from the Kia Ora hut on the Overland track after he'd been trapped there for four days.
The man used an emergency beacon to raise the alarm when his food started running out; he's now safe and well.
A road weather alert remains in force for ice and snow around the state.
The drifts trapped a semi trailer on the Murchison Highway between Que River and the Cradle Mountain turnoff, but it was freed this morning.
