Parking officers to get body cams

Burnie City Council parking officers will be issued with body worn cameras.

A report to be tabled at tomorrow night's monthly council meeting for May says body worn cameras will add to the safety and integrity of council compliance officers, including parking officers.
The council has been working over the past four months to develop a workplace policy including the use of body worn cameras and arrangements are in hand to acquire and issue the devices to frontline staff.
The report says the small lightweight cameras are capable of recording large volumes of video and sound and will help mitigate inappropriate behaviour towards staff.
