Former North-West Coaster Grant O'Brien has been appointed chair of Tourism Tasmania.
Mr O'Brien was born at Penguin and educated in Ulverstone and Hobart.
He started as an assistant accountant with Woolworths in Hobart in 1987 and rose to become the CEO and managing director of the supermarket giant.
Mr O'Brien was appointed chair of the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority in 2019 and is currently Chair of the Australian Sports Foundation.
He's also a member of the Tasmanian AFL Team Task Force which prepared the business case for the establishment of a Tasmanian team in the AFL.
