An unlicensed Longford man is in serious hot water over alleged Australia Day hooning.
Police have seized the 25-year-old's unregistered motorbike for six months, after clocking him at 161 kilometres an hour in a 60 zone on the town's Wellington Street on Tuesday.
It's alleged he evaded police at the time, but tip-offs from the public led officers to a local address soon after.
He's been charged with multiple traffic offences.
“The rider of the motorcycle showed little regard for other road users and pedestrians by travelling at such a high speed on this busy street," said Constable Chris Jackson from Campbell Town Police.
“I would like to thank the members of the public for their assistance in locating the rider who may not have been located before his behaviour had a potentially disastrous outcome.”
