Tasmania's bushfire prevention initiative Red Hot Tips is rolling out consultation with landholders this month.
The education and mentoring programme aims to empower landholders, to ensure their properties are given the best chance of avoiding or limiting fire damage.
Ian Sauer from the State Fire Management Council reckons it breaks new ground.
"This is the first time in Tasmania that there has been support for landowners to do that fuel reduction mitigation on their farm."
The state government is providing $600,000 for the programme.
TFS southern incident controller Mark Klop is involved.
"An opportunity to liaise with the local brigades, liaise with other landowners and set up that little bit of a group that has a really good understanding of what is important to those landowners."
