The North West Thunder’s NBL-1 South Conference basketball season has finished with a loss in the final roster game.
The Thunder went down to fellow NBL-1 side Hobart Chargers by eight points in Hobart to finish the roster in 17th place with seven wins and 15 losses.
Import Vionte Daniels top scored for the Thunder with 25 points, made up largely of seven three-pointers in an impressive display.
The Thunder led by six points at three-quarter time but fell away badly in the final term.
Departing coach Nick Haywood in his final game at the club says it’s a pattern repeated all too often during the season.
Meanwhile, import Sekou Sylla has been named as the North West Thunder’s best, taking out the Most Valuable Player award for the season.
Despite arriving late to the club without the benefit of pre-season training with the team, Sylla adapted quickly to average almost 22 points and 12 rebounds a game to become a crowd favourite, finishing the season as 12th highest scorer in the league and second in rebounds.
Fellow import Vionte Daniels was named runner-up MVP for the Thunder.
