Tasmanian Labor Leader Dean Winter says Premier Jeremy Rockliff should apologise to tourism and hospitality operators who have been let down by delays in the delivery of replacement ships for the Spirits of Tasmania.
Mr Winter said the Government had repeatedly promised the first of the replacement vessels, currently under construction in Finland, would be in operation by the end of the year.
However, when questioned in Parliament, Mr Winter says the Premier was unable to even guarantee they would be fully operational by the end of next year.
A Parliamentary committee hearing into delays with the construction of the new Spirits, chaired by Murchison Independent MLC Ruth Forest, is expected to resume in coming weeks.
