Motorists using the Bass Highway are being reminded to except minor delays this week as the State Government’s pothole blitz continues.
Large and numerous potholes have emerged on the highway following recent extreme weather, in particular West of Wynyard and between Devonport and Deloraine.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff announced the pothole blitz at the weekend following on from considerable backlash, particularly on social media, about the state of the Bass Highway and potholes which have damaged a number of cars.
Mr Rockliff says the Government is committed to the long term management of the state’s roads, ensuring they are maintained, but also designed for longevity and road user safety, with $117 million allocated to road and bridge maintenance in last week’s state budget.
