TasRacing has finally lodged a new development application with the Latrobe Council for $16 million harness racing and greyhound facility at Wesley Vale opposite the Devonport Airport.
The facility will replace the Devonport Showground venue, which has been closed for almost 18 months after being sold for a housing development.
TasRacing had originally planned a new venue at Palmers Road near Latrobe, but the site was deemed unsuitable on environmental and natural values reasons.
The racing body lodged a development application for the Wesley Vale site with the Latrobe Council in April, but the council required more information before it could become public.
The new application has been posted on the Latrobe Council website and is open for public comment for 14 days, before going to the council at it’s monthly meeting for September.
