Organisers of this year’s Tasmanian Masters Games say the biennial event should be shared around the state.
This year’s games, from October 5th to 13th will feature 19 sports and up to 1500 competitors, and will be held predominately on the North-West Coast (hosting 16 of the 19 sports), as it was in 2022, with swimming in Launceston and sailing and woodchopping in the West Tamar region.
Competitors are expected from interstate as well as all parts of Tasmania, and there’s even been interest from Canada and New Zealand.
Games president Steve Martin says the attraction of the games for many is not the competition itself, but the opportunity to enjoy what Tasmania has to offer, and he believes the 2026 games should be held in the South or North of the state.
