Work has started on a new state-of-the-art children’s playground on the Penguin foreshore.
The project is being funded from $400,000 the central Coast Council has received under the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Programme.
The playground will include new play equipment, rubber and sand soft fall underfoot, a shade sail, fully enclosed fence, landscaping and sensitivity play sculptures.
In keeping with the nautical theme of the previous playground, the new facility will include a large ship’s mast as its centrepiece.
The council has engaged North-West artist Gary Cole and Victorian landscaping company, Urban Discovery, which specialises in regenerative, therapeutic, play-based education spaces.
The new playground is expected to completed by early January.
