A number of Coastal first-home builders have been left in the lurch with the collapse of yet another building company.
This time it’s Devonport-based Golden Homes Tasmania, which has a number of half-completed local builds as well as further afield including Ulverstone.
The company has advised customers it will be shutting down as the company has been unable to secure a new licensed builder for the company.
Golden Homes director Emmett Davison says he’s in the process of appointing an administrator to assess options and outcomes for customers.
The company’s website and Facebook page have been taken down.
The State Government is still working towards establishing a new home warranty insurance scheme, but in the meantime, home owners can claim up to 20 per cent of their loss through a Government financial package.
The assistance package is being run by the Consumer Building and Occupational Services, or C-BOS within the Department of Justice.
Anyone in need of immediate advice on building related matters is being asked to contact C-BOS.
