Wynyard has been crowned NWFL women’s premier after an emphatic 10-goal victory over Penguin in the grand final at Ulverstone.

Played in front of a good crowd, the women’s senior grand final was the jewel in the crown on a day which showcased the best of Coastal women’s football.

Wynyard started the match as pre-game favourites after finishing on top of the ladder and beating Penguin in the second semi-final two weeks ago.

And, the Cats didn’t disappoint in the season decider, starting strongly to hold Penguin scoreless for the first quarter, with the Two Blues only scoring their first goal late in the second term.

Amy Bissett kicked six goals for Wynyard and received the medal for best on ground.

Wynyard coach Abbie Hoiberg-Cox says the game plan was always to use the Cats’ pace to advantage.

The Cats won 11.13-79 to 2.7-19.

Earlier in the day, Wynyard also win the under 14 girl’s grand final over Penguin, with Ulverstone taking out the under 17 decider against Wynyard.
