The first Tasmanian agricultural show of the season will be held this week with the traditional opener, the the Burnie Show and Agri-Expo on Friday and Saturday.
Since relocating to its current sire at the Romaine Agri-plex two years ago, the show has attracted record numbers of patrons.
It’s also one of only three remaining shows on the North-West Coast along with Circular Head and Wynyard, with the Devonport Show not held since 2017 and the Ulverstone Show last held in 2019.
This Friday, the first day of the show, is also a public holiday for Burnie and West Coast municipalities.
Organisers are promising a number of new events this year, including lawnmower races, a guinea pig show, and eating competitions for show food including dagwood dogs and doughnuts.
Beef cattle and sheep judging will return after being cancelled last year due to a shortage of qualified judges.
The show will run from 9am to 5pm on both days, with shuttle buses from Burnie Park, Metro Cinema and Top of the Town at Upper Burnie for a gold coin donation.
