The first of two walks on the North-West Coast to mark tomorrow’s World Suicide Prevention Day and raise funds for Lifeline Tasmania will be held at Smithton on Sunday.
The second event will be held in Burnie next Friday.
The Out of the Shadows Walks are so named as they aim to recognise the day, reflect on those lost to suicide, and to bring the conversation about suicide out of the darkness and into the light.
The Smithton event on Sunday will start at 5.30 pm at the Smithton Rural Health Centre in King Street, while the Burnie event will be held at Burnie Park memorial garden, also starting from 5.30.
The Burnie event, now in its 11th year will include guest speakers, a fundraising raffle, and a minute’s silence in addition to the 35-minute walk.
There’s more information on the Lifeline Tasmania website, and as always, if you need help, you can always call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
