Bikies charged over Devonport bashings

Two South Australian members of The Rebels outlaw motor cycle gang have been charged in relation to the alleged bashing of six people in Devonport last weekend.

The pair have been charged with affray and several counts of assault in relation to an incident, which saw two people knocked unconscious and four taken to hospital in an alleged unprovoked attack.

Tasmania Police and Australian Federal Police raided a property near New Norfolk on Friday, where an alleged Tasmanian bikie lives, arresting a 23 year-old man and a 30 year-old man, both from South Australia.

Police say the Tasmanian man will also face charges, after police located a quantity of drugs, gel blaster handguns styled to appear as real handguns and stolen property during their search.

A third man reportedly involved in the assaults has been identified by Tasmania Police and they are working with interstate counterparts to ensure he is also held to account for his alleged actions.
