The State Government has unveiled its $1.4 billion North-West Health Master-Plan.
Health Minister Guy Barnett says the 20-year vision will meet the future needs of Coast’s communities by ensuring the North West regional Hospital in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital at Latrobe will have the capacity to support increasing demands of the health system for years to come.
The plan includes a new, purpose-built medical in-patient building in Burnie, a purpose-built $40 million Mental Health Precinct; and 630 additional car parks.
Upgrades at Latrobe will include completion of the outpatients and theatres project already underway
to provide additional endoscopy, day surgery and theatre suites.
However, Mr Barnett says the master-plan will require additional funding from the Federal Government.
