It’s official a P.S. I Love You sequel is happening!

p.s. i love you

It’s official but 13 years later we're finally getting a P.S. I Love You sequel and we have our tissues on hand.

If you're not familiar with the original film, it's time to get you up to speed.

Holly (Hilary Swank) is a beautiful, smart woman who married the love of her life - a passionate, funny Irishman named Gerry (Gerard Butler).

Tragically their relationship is cut short with the passing of Gerry from a brain tumour. As Holly struggles to deal with his passing she starts to receive letters from her late husband.

Each of the inspiring letters guides Holly through her grief and are all signed off with the same ending “P.S. I Love You”.

The sequel picks up with Holly seven years later when her sister asks her to talk about the letters on her podcast.

And early official synopsis reads:

"When a group inspired by Gerry's letters, calling themselves the P.S. I Love You Club, approaches Holly asking for help, she finds herself drawn back into a world that she worked so hard to leave behind.

Reluctantly, Holly begins a relationship with the club, even as their friendship threatens to destroy the peace she believes she has achieved.

As each of these people calls upon Holly to help them leave something meaningful behind for their loved ones, Holly will embark on a remarkable journey one that will challenge her to ask whether embracing the future means betraying the past, and what it means to love someone forever."

Alcon Entertainment has acquired film rights for the sequel to P.S. I Love You (2007), Postscript from author Cecelia Ahern.

It is yet to be announced if Swank or Butler will star in the sequel.
