In Townsend, Delaware in the US, an Aussie animal is wreaking havoc on the local law enforcement and disrupting school services.
A particularly elusive emu is said to be running amok in the town, an escaped pet whose owner has yet to come forward.
So far, it has managed to evade any sort of capture and it is estimated to have been on the loose for several months now.
The emu sent a local school into “soft lockdown” after it appeared on the grounds on Monday.
Local Drew Hurst told NBC10 that he couldn't believe it when his grandson told him about the school day.
“'You weren’t allowed to go play in school because a giant emu was running around in your playground and it was being chased by police?' And he said 'Uh-huh.'"
Those chasing the emu were unsuccessful in capturing the speeding Australian native.
An animal wrangler by the name of Dan Stonebraker told NBC,
“I am getting frustrated. Yesterday we were out there for a few hours, and we got closer than ever. We had our hands on it, physically, twice.”
The emu is still at large and in some ways, for comedic purposes, we hope it stays that way.
