Salmon protests labelled “un-Tasmanian”

Bob Brown Foundation protesters picketed Hill Street Grocer supermarket locations across the state on Tuesday, including those at Latrobe and Devonport.

The activists say fish farms on the West Coast coast are destroying the marine environment and pushing the Maugean Skate to extinction.

Hill Street has previously said that the chain does not source or sell fresh salmon from Macquarie Harbour in its delis, but some other specialty products, including packaged salmon, are sourced from the region.

Braddon MP Felix Ellis says the protests are ill-directed and labelled them un-Tasmanian and harassment of a Tasmanian family business.
