General managers of all Coastal councils and the Cradle Coast Authority have banded together to inform the State Government, they’ve had enough of potholes on the Bass Highway.
In a letter sent to Premier Jeremy Rockliff, the GMs say the current state of the highway is unacceptable and issues aren’t all because of recent heavy rain.
They say the significant deterioration of the highway is a symptom of a bigger problem with either the surface material or the underlying base pavement being inadequate.
Mr Rockliff announced a pothole blitz on the highway last week, with a particular focus on the stretch between Latrobe and Deloraine, but it’s now apparent Coastal councils want longer term solutions.
